First, thanks for my very favorite sudoku game (iPad and iPhone). I have a methodical technique for solving (or at least starting) most games: I press-and-hold '1' until all '1's on the board show up; then I fill in other '1's where I can by process of elimination; then I move on to the '2's, etc., etc. However, for example, say I've got the 1's all lit up. Then I enter a 1. The 1's are no longer lit up. I have to "rechoose" the number... This is a bit frustrating if there are quite a few to enter. Is it possible to make the chosen number set "stay" even after you've entered another? Now, my technique may be so whacked that no one else would care. Sure would make the game even better for me. Thanks, |

Hey thanks for the note. Its an interesting idea. I think the problem is knowing if the user wants them to stay lit or not. Maybe there is a way to "turn on" all the 1's so that even after you enter more 1's those light up as well, and then be able to "turn off" the ones later. Right now all highlighting features just highlight the cells for that moment and then the cells are still highlight-modifiable, meaning that you can continue to highlight more cells via swipes or drawing. Between version 1 and 2 I actually tuned the gestures so that it was easier to select a cell and thereby harder to highlight a single cell. I had gotten some complaints from people who would have to tap 2 or 3 times before a cell would select. I've seen apps that also keep track of how many of each number you have used so far. My take on that is an undocumented feature in v2.x that when you do that long tap to highlight all the 1's for example, if they're all highlighted and in the right spots they highlight with a brighter highlight. Something I'll talk about in another post in a minute is the struggle to provide legitimate solving tools without spoilers (giving away answers or mistakes). I try to walk the balance there but with scoring it's difficult. |
